SEOUL, Jan. 25(Yonhap) – “National MC” Song Hae will be pushed for the Guinness World Records.

KBS announced on Jan. 25 that it has applied to the Guinness World Records to post Song Hae, the MC of “National Singing Contest,” as the “Oldest TV music talent show host.”

Song Hae, born in 1927, was confirmed to be the oldest host in the world at the “TV Music Talent Show,” and Guinness World Records recently completed a fundamental review and officially confirmed its application of a record challenge.

Song Hae, the oldest MC in Korea, was born in 1927 and debuted in the entertainment industry through the Changgong Musical Ensemble in 1955. Song is in charge of his representative show, KBS 1TV's “National Singing Contest,” for 34 years since 1988.

KBS said, "If Song is registered as the Guinness World Records, it will be recognized as an achievement that publicizes the potential of Korean entertainment shows to broadcasting companies around the world.”

Meanwhile, KBS 2TV will air “Thank you, everyone. Song Hae,” a special program for New Year’s day, which reorganized 96 years of Song Hae’s life history into a trot musical, on Jan. 31 at 7:50 p.m.
