'The Roundup' expected to dominate movie theaters with more than 1 mil viewers in 2 days

SEOUL, May 20 (Yonhap) -- "The Roundup (also known as The Outlaws 2)," a crime action and entertainment movie starring Ma Dong-seok (Don Lee), is expected to dominate the theaters this weekend.

According to the integrated computer network of movie theater admissions by the Korean Film Council on the 20th, "The Roundup" attracted 366,000 spectators the day before, which was its second day of release, surpassing 1 million cumulative audience.

The cumulative number of spectators is 1,016,000. This included 182,000 viewers for the large-scale paid premiere before it was released on the 18th.

"The Roundup" recorded a reservation rate of 68.9% as of 8:40 a.m. on the same day.

"Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (also known as Doctor Strange 2)" which has been at the top of the box since its release on the 4th, fell to the second place with the release of "The Roundup." The cumulative number of audience was 5,144,000 until the previous day which is close to the cumulative number of "Doctor Strange" with 5,446,000.

Ahead of the weekend, various works including "Song of the Poet" and "Land and Housing," "Mass," which depicts the parents of school violence victims, and the French Romantic Comedy "The Speech" will be out.

"Song of the Poet," which tells the story of Jeong Tae Chun's musical life, ranked fourth at the box office with 1,506 audiences the day before.

However, as of the previous day, "The Roundup" had a screening rate of 67.1% while "Doctor Strange 2" recorded a screening rate of 24.7%. Thus the choice of the movies was not wide.
