LOS ANGELES, Jan. 28 (Yonhap) -- Netflix’s Korean show “Squid Game” is the first non-English language show to earn a PGA Award nomination.

PGA nominated “Squid Game” for Best Episodic Drama on Jan. 27 (U.S.Time), ahead of the 33rd awards ceremony.

The nominees include “Yellowstone” (Paramount Network), “The Handmaid’s Tale” (Hulu), “The Morning Show” (Apple TV+), and “Succession” (HBO).

Founded in 1990, the PGA Awards, (Producers Guild of America Awards) is given to producers who have shown excellent production capabilities in movies, dramas, animations, and documentaries. This year's awards ceremony will be held in Los Angeles on March 19.

Deadline, an entertainment news, explained, “‘Squid Game’ has been breaking ground as the first non-English language TV series to land major US awards recognition," adding, "Following its strong showing at the SAG (Screen Actors Guild) Awards nominations, Squid Game this morning became the first non-English language show to earn a PGA Award nomination."

The Korean series earned four nominations, including a drama ensemble (and a Golden Globes win).

The all-Korean show has also been recognized by other Hollywood guilds, including Motion Picture Sound Editors (MPSE) Awards, Cinema Audio Society (CAS) Awards, the Art Directors Guild (ADG) Awards, and Costume Designers Guild (CDG) Awards.
